York Festival of Ideas goes online

York Festival of Ideas 2020 will take place online from 2 to 14 June under the banner of Virtual Horizons.

The Festival of Ideas team has been working with partners to bring together a diverse programme of talks, music, activities and community trails (to explore on your daily exercise).

World-class speakers will cover topics from How to Grow a Human with Phil Ball to a fascinating tour through the valley of the shadow of digital death with psychologist Elaine Kasket, while Tansy Hoskins will explain just what exactly your shoes are doing to the world. You can also join journalists Emily Maitlis and Isabel Berwick as they discuss the imperfect art of making news.

And York PhD students will feature in the final of the York Three Minute Thesis competition. In a challenge against the clock, competing students each have just three minutes to explain how their ideas can answer the big cultural, economic and scientific questions of our time.
