Nicky Milner shortlisted for THE Research Supervisor of the Year

Congratulations to Professor Nicky Milner who has been shortlisted for Research Supervisor of the Year in this year’s Times Higher Education Awards.

The award submission highlights her dedication to her students, including her encouragement of “students facing a range of challenges to pursue a doctorate” as well as “an excellent track record in helping her students obtain doctoral funding from a wide range of sources”.

Since 2003, Nicky has supervised 18 PhD students and five Masters by Research students, several of whom have gone on to senior roles in academia and commercial archaeology. Nicky was awarded a Vice-Chancellor’s Teaching Award in 2009 because of her innovative teaching approach and consistently excellent student feedback.

Nicky welcomed Ray Mears to campus in July 2019 as he opened a unique outdoor archaeology lab ahead of receiving an honorary degree from the University.

The winners will be announced at the THE Awards ceremony in London on Thursday 28 November 2019.
