{"id":1589,"date":"2024-03-06T13:12:26","date_gmt":"2024-03-06T13:12:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/research-student-community\/?p=1589"},"modified":"2024-03-06T13:12:26","modified_gmt":"2024-03-06T13:12:26","slug":"xr-accelerator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/research-student-community\/2024\/03\/06\/xr-accelerator\/","title":{"rendered":"XR Accelerator"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">XR Network+ is running a free, part-time XR Accelerator for people working in extended reality (XR) and virtual production (VP) technologies at UK universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programme is open to early-mid career researchers, late-stage PhD students and research-engaged technicians and provides a unique opportunity for participants to develop entrepreneurial skills, explore what goes into creating a tech product business and gain understanding of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>IP emerging from research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commercial pathways and models<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Funding options<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applying industry innovation methodologies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Routes to impact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a mix of online and in-person sessions, participants will break down barriers to the startup world and build valuable connections with other researchers working in virtual production and extended reality technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The course starts with two intensive half-day workshops in central York on the afternoon of Monday 13 and morning of Tuesday 14 May. Weekly online workshops follow thereafter and the programme ends with another two in-person half-day sessions on Monday 17 (PM) and Tuesday 18 (AM) June. Participants are expected to commit to attending the in-person sessions and will need to book their own travel and accommodation but can claim back these expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/xrnetworkplus.xrstories.co.uk\/grant\/xr-accelerator\/\">XR Network+ website<\/a> to find out more about the accelerator and how to apply.
