{"id":1636,"date":"2024-05-20T16:11:12","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T15:11:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/research-student-community\/?p=1636"},"modified":"2024-05-20T16:11:46","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T15:11:46","slug":"abstracts-summer-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/research-student-community\/2024\/05\/20\/abstracts-summer-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Abstracts: Vulnerability and Policing Futures Research Centre PhD Summer School (online)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Abstract submission deadline:<\/strong> Monday, 10 June\u00a02024 using\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSe3xSff4aCq6I03Woimqu3svGsA2MB-yDqtv-lkMamxlxGaOg\/viewform?usp=sf_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this form<\/a>.\u00a0<br><strong>Summer School dates<\/strong>: Thursday 4 July &#8211; Friday 5 July 2024, 10.30am &#8211; 12.30pm (BST)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vulnerability &amp; Policing Futures Research Centre is pleased to announce its inaugural PhD Summer School, scheduled to be held online on 4 -5 July 2024.\u00a0This interdisciplinary event aims to foster a vibrant network of PhD researchers whose work intersects with various facets of vulnerability and policing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Summer School<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The primary objective of this summer school is to provide a platform for PhD students to present their research in a supportive environment and receive constructive feedback from fellow students and established researchers.\u00a0The summer school also offers a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange and networking within the academic community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The summer school will follow the following format:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>5 x 25 minute presentation slots<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each slot includes a 10-minute presentation followed by 15 minutes allocated for feedback and questions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presenters are encouraged to showcase material from their PhD theses at any stage of development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Topics may include, but are not limited to: research design, methodology, thesis chapters, and potential paper ideas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submission Guidelines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>PhD students from a variety of disciplines are invited to submit abstracts for consideration.
