This training session will provide a detailed overview of the ways in which you can protect your ideas and the main types of intellectual property rights including patents, copyright, and trademarks and branding. This one day training event will be led by Vitae and the Governmental Intellectual Property Office. This training will also have input from university staff offering support at York and information on who to go to for help. Astrid Lorenz from Symbiosis IP will provide IP case studies on staff they have supported at York, including filing for patents. Come and boost your knowledge of how to protect and share your research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lunch will be provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the purposes of delivering and evaluating the programme Vitae and the IPO request that you complete this pre-workshop survey<\/a>. You will be agreeing to share your details and this information with Vitae\/CRAC and the IPO and the information will only be used for the purposes of delivering and evaluating the programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please can you bring a wi-fi-enabled device to the training session in order to complete the post-workshop survey which Vitae and the IPO will then be able to compare with the pre-workshop survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1100-1145: Overview of copyright \u2013 what is it, what can\/cannot be copyrighted, exceptions and infringement; delivered by Dr Katy Mahoney<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1145-1230: Overview of patents \u2013 what are they, why they matter, what is excluded, patenting process; delivered by Dr Katy Mahoney<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1230-1315: Lunch break \u2013 lunch will be provided<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1315-1345: Overview of registered design \u2013 the rules around it, practical examples; delivered by Dr Katy Mahoney<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1345-1415: Trademarks and branding – \u2013 the rules around it, practical examples; delivered by Dr Katy Mahoney<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1415-1445: University presentation: how, when and where to go for support on IP related matters; delivered by Research and Enterprise Team<\/p>\n\n\n\n
