Most departments have a DCO who\u2019ll be able to support you with various aspects of using IT. Your username and password are vital pieces of your University identity. You need to keep them safe. <strong>Never share your password<\/strong>, and if anyone else does know it, you should <a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/it-services\/security\/password\/change\/\">change your password<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Learn how to spot scams<\/strong> like phishing emails and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/it-services\/security\/\">get more IT security advice on our website<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Find out about High Performance Computing facilities to support your research<\/strong> &#8211; no matter what your subject area is.&nbsp;<ul><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/it-services\/research-computing\/\">Research Computing<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/it-services\/software\/a-z\/ms-office\/ms-office-365\/\"><strong>Install MS Office 365 free of charge<\/strong><\/a> so that you can use MS Office on up to five different devices. The subscription remains valid as long as you are a student at the University of York.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Install other software at discounted rates.<\/strong> As a student at York, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/it-services\/software\/purchase\/students\/\">install a number of other software packages<\/a> free, or at a discount.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Check whether you can buy IT equipment more cheaply from our suppliers.<\/strong> There are a number of discounts available when you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/it-services\/purchasing\/private\/\">buy computer equipment for personal use<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Borrow a laptop<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/library\/borrowing\/laptops\/#tab-1\">for short term use on campus<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/library\/borrowing\/laptops\/#tab-5\">take it out on loan for up to a month. <\/a>This service will be available from Monday 28 September.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Follow IT Services<\/strong> <strong>on <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UoYITServices\"><strong>Twitter<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>for<strong> <\/strong>useful information, updates and news about the services that we provide.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome from IT Services!
