{"id":62,"date":"2019-09-30T12:10:29","date_gmt":"2019-09-30T11:10:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/research-student-community\/?p=62"},"modified":"2019-09-30T12:10:30","modified_gmt":"2019-09-30T11:10:30","slug":"phd-spotlight-competition-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/research-student-community\/2019\/09\/30\/phd-spotlight-competition-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD Spotlight competition 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Develop your research communication skills and share your work with hundreds of people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PhD Spotlight competition&nbsp;sees nine PhD students chosen to exhibit their research as part of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/research\/events\/yorktalks\/\">YorkTalks<\/a>, a key University research showcase event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Proposals must outline:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>the original nature and potential outcomes or impact of your research;<\/li><li>the relevance of your research outside a single field;<\/li><li>how your exhibition piece will engage an academic, non-specialist audience from different disciplines.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three PhD students from each faculty will be chosen and given support to develop public engagement skills. There are prizes for the winner of each faculty, plus the overall winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">YorkTalks 2019 was attended by more than 800 people.
