So I’ve come home for a while over the Easter break. I’ve spent quality time with my family, caught up with friends and eaten loads of home cooked food and far too much chocolate!!<\/p>\n

But, having been back for a few weeks now, I’m really missing York and uni life! It’s got me thinking about why I love studying and living there so much.\u00a0So here’s a little bit of what I miss: my top reasons for loving York…<\/p>\n

Food, food, more food, food, all the food<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seriously though York has some of the most fabulous places to eat. From student yum in Courtyard on campus, to high tea at Betty’s or vegan friendly cafes. The choice is vast. If you are any where near as much of a foodie as me you will love it!<\/p>\n

Culture and history<\/strong><\/p>\n

York is an undeniably beautiful place to live and study. The city is full of history. Take a walk on the crumbly city walls, down the wobbly old cobbled streets and through the bustling markets. There is so much to see and do. A visit to the Minster is a must!<\/p>\n

Beautiful campus<\/strong><\/p>\n

Particularly in first year, but also for the rest of your time, you are surrounded by the beautiful campus. It’s so easy to go and find a lovely peaceful spot to read or to have a bbq by the lake in summer.<\/p>\n

Ducklings, baby bunnies, cygnets ….just generally cute wild life<\/strong><\/p>\n

I adore animals. Living on a campus teeming with waterfowl and all sorts of other wildlife is lovely (even if you do get honked at by the odd grumpy goose \ud83d\ude09 ).<\/p>\n

All the societies<\/strong><\/p>\n

York has nearly 200 societies and over 60 sports clubs, not including college sports teams. They all have meetings, events and socials. If you can’t find one you like then all you need to do is get a group together and set up your own!<\/p>\n

Friendly atmosphere<\/strong><\/p>\n

For me one of the best things about\u00a0York is it’s friendly and inclusive atmosphere. The Physics staff are really welcoming and supportive. At no point have I been treated differently because of being that little bit older or doing a foundation year. In addition, with academic supervisors, college welfare and the open door team there is a fab network of people there to help if you need it.<\/p>\n
