My name is Parker and I am a first year student in Langwith College. I was really excited to decorate my room before I started university. But I didn\u2019t know what specific things I should bring. I love how my room now feels like a reflection of me, proudly displaying all the people I love and all the things I want to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top tips for making your room feel like home:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I found my room to feel quite lifeless and empty at first. Literally because there was nothing on the walls. So firstly I recommend bringing as many posters and wacky paintings and concert tickets as possible. This will give your room life, specifically your life. Let your personality shine in your room and I believe you\u2019ll find it feels like home. Secondly, absolutely bring loads of photos of family and friends! Every time I feel lost, I know I can ground myself and become inspired when I look at my notice boards. That reminds me, make sure to bring some decorations that will motivate you to do the work for your degree. I study Film and Television Production. So I have many film posters around my room. The lights make my room feel really warm and provide a soft glow that accentuates all my other decorations. Also, I have glow in the dark stars which are so awesome! I found they made the first few nights here less scary, since they helped me familiarise myself with the layout of my room even in the dark.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top tips for making your room practical:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My number one tip is getting a drying rack for your room. These are very helpful to dry your towels on and anything from clothes to bedding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My second top tip is to bring lots of storage containers to keep items such as important documents, letters and medicines in the same place. I use shoe boxes for these so I can keep track of where everything is in my room. I think this makes your bed super cosy and helps you get better sleep, which is vital for a uni student! Loads of pillows and blankets have made me very grateful in the colder months too as I find my room gets a little chilly in winter.
