So, what is Club of PEP?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

To the majority of people reading this blog, Club of PEP<\/a> will be an alien concept! It is a society for every PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) student at the university, allowing us to come together in an array of activities and events in order to share our love of the subjects and, most importantly, socialise with others!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What types of events does Club of PEP hold?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

It has to be said that this society really does have something for everyone. From charity dodgeball matches in aid of Movember, to PEP pub golf and ‘bad’ shirt night… It is honestly the best way to get to know others with the same interests as you, both in first year and throughout the rest of your time at York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of my favourite memories from the Club of PEP has to be the Fresher\u2019s Ball. Back in October, the first formal of the academic year was held at The Biltmore in town. It was the best way to get to know others, especially as it was so early in the semester! A night of socialising, delicious food and Sunday Revs (one of the clubs in town) – what could be better?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the benefits of PEP?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Upon joining Club of PEP you are allocated to a family which basically consists of 6 or 7 people in first year and two people in second or third year. They act as \u2018mentors\u2019, offering advice on what to expect from your degree, and giving you any tips and tricks to make the most of life whilst at York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are people from all over the country – and even the world – studying PPE at York. Even though I\u2019m only in my first semester, the PPE socials have allowed me to meet such a variety of people, and I have loved getting to know them all! It really does feel like one big community, allowing you to take a break from your studies and enjoy the social aspects of being at uni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s coming up?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Most importantly, what is there to look forward to in the coming months for those in Club of PEP? One of the biggest events of the year for the society has to be the renowned 12-Hour Ball. Although I haven\u2019t yet experienced this, it is something which the third years have been raving about since the start of the year! You are probably able to guess what it involves – and it is sure to be a highlight of second semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s not to forget the upcoming trip to Sofia, Bulgaria in March! Club of PEP organises a group holiday to a different destination each year. During this trip, we will be able to discover more about Cold War history, visit the National Assembly and take in Bulgarian culture. This again is something which the older years have said is an unmissable experience – and I cannot wait to go!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope you have all been able to understand a bit more about Club of PEP from my blog. As I said, being a first year I haven\u2019t yet been able to experience all that the club has to offer, but in my first few months this society has been invaluable for meeting new people and becoming part of a community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can\u2019t wait to see what happens in the future!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hey! I\u2019m Rosie and I\u2019m currently in first year, studying Philosophy and Politics. In this blog, I\u2019m going to introduce you to Uni of York\u2019s Club of PEP. Club of PEP is essentially a society for all PPE students which offers a range of events for all years to get involved in. From formals to Christmas lunches – and even trips abroad – this society has something for everyone in the departments!!
