The city is absolutely beautiful, which is actually quite dangerous when you have to navigate the roads filled with a million and one bicycles plus trams around every corner all travelling on roads paved in the exact same red brick they pave the pavements with. My favourite part of the whole trip was renting bikes and riding them around Vondelpark, it had been nearly ten years since I last rode a bike &#8211; but it is true you never forget.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/student-voices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/04\/Vondelpark.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1366\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1366 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/student-voices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/04\/Vondelpark.jpg?resize=300%2C225\" alt=\"Vondelpark\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/student-voices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/04\/Vondelpark.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/student-voices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/04\/Vondelpark.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/student-voices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/04\/Vondelpark.jpg?w=960&amp;ssl=1 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Second to that it would have to be travelling along the canals in a pedalo, something I was very surprised they let tourists do especially when those canals are filled with large, terrifying tour boats but they did make the whole experience a lot more fun.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">One thing that took me by surprise is that nearly all the taxis in the city were Tesla model S\u2019! Not many of the people I went with noticed or cared they just seemed like any other sedan aside from the awesome sounding whir they make, but it was like the electric car version of Dubai with supercars around every corner, turns out it has the highest density of charging stations in the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">To top it all off while just wandering around the city, we stumbled across a crowd in one of the squares and in the middle of them was this amazing looking self-driving research car from Mercedes.\u00a0They definitely spared no expense on making it look like it was taken straight from the pages of science fiction. After a while it just tootled off on its own, It was such a surreal experience.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/student-voices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/04\/Mercedies-self-driving-car.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1367\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1367 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.york.ac.uk\/student-voices\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/04\/Mercedies-self-driving-car.jpg?resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"The Mercedes Benz F 015 self-driving stands on March 13, 2016 at the Dam square in Amsterdam. Which is a very exciting prospect for the future of electric cars.
