Having graduated from the Department of Education in 2021, my time at York has been a game-changer, setting the stage for my career in the higher education industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Memorable moments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choosing York was the best decision I made in 2021. The city&#8217;s charm, rich history, and the York campus created the perfect setting for my academic adventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whenever I delved into essays or assignments, you&#8217;d find me at Morrell Library or Spring Lane Building\u2014perfect spots, conveniently close to both the shop and the caf\u00e9 for a quick snack break. And I absolutely love exploring the city with my film camera, wandering the corners of York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Career opportunities and support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Driven by my love for education, I wanted to stack my CV. York&#8217;s careers platform <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/students\/work-volunteering-careers\/handshake\/\">Handshake<\/a> <\/em>became my job-hunting sidekick, opening up with many opportunities. After being supported by the Careers Team with application reviews and mock interviews, I finally got an internship at York International Pathway College and got to be a Student Ambassador for Open Day in the summer of 2022. As a Chinese Marketing Specialist at a student engagement agency, I collaborate with students from various universities across the UK. Combining my passion and knowledge in education with marketing feels like a harmonious blend. Looking forward, I see myself exploring further into the international student journey\u2014finding ways to enhance their experiences both before and after their arrival in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My advice for current students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I would recommend thinking ahead and getting an early start. It&#8217;s also helpful to connect with the career support team\u2014ask any questions you&#8217;re curious about and share your ideas with them. You might discover some useful interview tips that you hadn&#8217;t thought of. If you have time, volunteering at events is a good way to improve communication skills in a team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My time at York was a mix of experiences that shaped my career and helped me grow. From the quiet corners of the library to the lively student events, York played a huge role in my life. To all you future and current students, enjoy every moment, grab every opportunity, and let York be the place where your story begins.
