But here are my summarised points&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Pete specialises in <em><strong>Vision and Visual Perception<\/strong><\/em> and teaches a block of modules on this in both first and second year.<\/p>\n<p>Our department is very research intensive &#8211; we are <strong>3rd in the country for our research facilities!<\/strong> Coming to York means you can conduct your own MRI scans, be part of research for an MRI scan, and even get <em>paid to sleep in the department for the night!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pete defines the research in our department as &#8216;<strong>world class<\/strong>&#8216; &#8211; so why not join us in being part of that?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The department here is <em>soooo<\/em> friendly! I would class a number of the lecturers here as my friends rather than just teachers. They are <em><strong>incredibly inspirational<\/strong><\/em> and there for you whenever you need a little (or a lot of) support!<\/p>\n<p>Pete is particularly famous for his <strong>&#8216;Margaret Thatcher Illusion&#8217;<\/strong> (it has a wikipedia page &#8211; look it up!) but also many other pieces of research such as wearing horizontal stripes makes you look thinner!!<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RrUw7faOlkw?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>All in all&#8230; although the Psychology department at York conducts lots of <em><strong>ground-breaking research<\/strong><\/em> and has a <em><strong>fantastic reputation<\/strong><\/em>, I think what makes it so special is the amazing people you have the opportunity to work with.
