My name is Ormie from Thailand. I joined the MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management<\/a> programme at the University of York in September 2025. In this blog, I will share some of my personal experiences with this programme, including highlights, interesting parts, future growth, and a day as a student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Programme highlights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What drew me to this course is its focus on both theoretical skills and a mindset that can be adapted for long-term success. This is demonstrated from the very first step of creating business value throughout the process. The course covers various business aspects such as marketing and strategy. And also includes subjects focused on entrepreneurship such as creating new businesses or developing business models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active learning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What I think is interesting is that this programme offers active learning which has enhanced my independence and critical thinking skills. This approach not only involves active participation in lectures but also in class discussions and group work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collaboration with classmates <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I usually feel uncomfortable about sharing my thoughts in public. However, the small class size helps me feel more relaxed and enables me to interact more with both my classmates and the lecturers. This is particularly true during seminar classes, where the focus is primarily on discussion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, the programme involves field trips and guest lectures. Which is fascinating and inspiring to see an example linking theory to real-world practice. This teaching, therefore, makes me feel more confident about education and developing personally.

Field visit, Institute for Safe Autonomy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Future growth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Moving on, this programme has given me the opportunity to prepare for my future career as an entrepreneur. I gained practical knowledge and personal development from learning by doing and experimenting through the course project, which allowed me to utilize my skill in a real-world context.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, the project from the module \u201cBusiness Planning for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability\u201d gave me a chance to do a group project building a chocolate business. This project is very memorable. I enjoyed it as it involves everything from idea creation, designing the product prototype, and product packaging to planning for launch, operation, marketing, and finance for this chocolate business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project allowed me to foster my creativity together in searching for chocolate product ideas and creating a realistic business plan. Also, the group project made me more resilient to any future challenges and more open-minded to diverse teams, which I am confident will help my ongoing learning and adaptation in an evolving corporate environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A day in my life<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A day in my life as a student of this programme is a balance of studying and self-learning every day. On weekdays I normally wake up early in the morning and prepare myself for class. My class mostly begins in the morning and finishes in the afternoon. I enjoy going to class, as I also get to see my friends as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I normally do after class is to take a walk around campus. Or shop for groceries, which gives me a relaxing feeling after a long day and gives me some exercise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, I typically do some room cleaning, laundry, and food preparation; these also give me independent life-living-alone experience. I end my day with resting by video calling with my family and friends. Or sometimes taking time before bed for pre-reading.

Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management programme for me is an excellent opportunity for a transformational and meaningful educational experience. This course has provided me with a wide range of benefits, both in terms of education and life experience. In this programme I learn through discussion, research, reflection, and case studies. I also had the chance to learn to adapt myself to the new environment and enjoy my everyday student life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
