Sense of Community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My favourite thing about Psychology at York is the\u00a0<\/span>sense of community. I didn’t experience this vibe at any other university I visited. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They make no secret of the fact that as a psychology student here, every single event in your timetable will take place in their wonderful pink building. I found this especially advantageous at the beginning of
first year because campus can be a bit overwhelming. To only have to find my way to one place was great – I was the envy of my unfortunate flatmates who did some accidental exploring in the first few weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting Like-minded People<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Having everyone in the same place also means it\u2019s so easy to meet people on your course and in different years. Chances are, everyone you bump into in the corridors is a psychology student too. Meeting second year students was fab because they\u2019d been in your exact position and were full of hints and tips.  <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A perk which might not be so emphasised elsewhere is the location of the building itself. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A stone’s throw from the lecture theatre is the Roger Kirk Centre. Home to its very own Costa – a godsend for those 9am\u2019s. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My friends and I often make the most of breaks in our timetable and go there to lounge around on the squishy sofas and indulge in their wonderful array of culinary delights to reward ourselves for being so studious.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

First-Class Staff<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wonderful Wendy<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I couldn\u2019t possibly neglect to mention Wendy Johnson, who you’ll find at the front desk, purely because she\u2019s wonderful.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I made sure I did my market research for this particular blog post and asked all my course friends what their favourite things about the staff were – they all mentioned Wendy! <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

She makes it seem as if there\u2019s no bigger priority than helping you resolve whatever problem you have on your mind, no matter how big or small. In the past, I\u2019ve asked some pretty ridiculous questions which, in hindsight, had very obvious answers, but she\u2019s always gone all out to help me regardless. Every subject needs a Wendy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

World-leading researchers<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Psychology sometimes likes to name-drop a bit on open days about all the famous people that have worked\/are working with us. But they have every right to! <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hadn\u2019t fully realised until recently that it really is a hub of world-leading researchers<\/strong>. Your lecturers will be at the forefront of their fields themselves. Many will have worked alongside the most influential psychologists across the world too, some of which have become household names. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All in all, I feel really privileged to be part of such an inclusive, prestigious learning environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
