I&#8217;m currently doing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/study\/undergraduate\/careers-skills\/work#placement\">Placement Year<\/a> working as an Assurance Associate at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ey.com\/uk\/en\/home\">Ernst &amp; Young<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why did you decide to do a placement?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I chose to do an internship to find out what I\nenjoyed in respect to work. Also hoping to improve my career prospects, and a\nplacement specifically as I felt a whole year would allow me more responsibility\nin a role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How did you find the opportunity?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I felt I got a great insight into what working\nlife is like, and had a lot of responsibility that allowed me to keep track of\nmy own work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s your typical day?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I used a\nlot of Excel generally, looking through financial data for the clients, and\nmeeting with the clients, while working in a team with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What did you get out of it?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I learnt what career path I want to be on,\nwhile learning what corporate life is like, and the responsibilities that come\nwith being organised, and that networking is extremely important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How has it influenced your future career options?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My placement at EY allowed me to understand that I\u2019m more interested in Investment Banking and Private Equity, and confirms what I thought I was more interested in before the placement.
