Hello! I’m Laura, a 2nd Year English student here at York. Here is my results day story:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happened on results day?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I was getting ready to go into college feeling very anxious when my Mum, who had been sat at the computer refreshing UCAS for probably 20 minutes, called me down. Running over to look, I found that I’d been rejected by one university but accepted by York. I was relieved but overall it felt kind of anticlimactic. Having worked towards that acceptance for two years it didn’t really feel enough. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It didn’t really hit me until a while later that I was actually going to university. I went out afterwards for a meal with my friends, aware that some were happier than others, though we’d all be happy in the end. Everyone will have a different experience of results day but everyone has worked hard and deserves to celebrate, regardless of the results!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are your top tips for results day?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I put off getting changed and ready until the run-up to the results release so that I could distract myself. I wish I’d made a great playlist of music to boost my mood and further distract myself, and that I’d arranged to meet with my friends so we could celebrate and console each other together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why did you choose York?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I chose York because when I was on my post-offer visit days York was the only university that I could actually picture myself at. The department were so welcoming and kind and they’d kept in contact by email ever since I applied. I love the course even more than I had originally thought. I’m so glad I picked a campus university since it’s so easy to feel at home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s the one piece of advice you\u2019d give yourself if you had to go through results day again?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It’s not the end of the world. Your results are what they are and you can’t change them but you can do your best with them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
