Hello! I’m Charlotte, a 3rd year student studying English and History here at York. Here is my results day story:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happened on results day?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My results were released sooner than expected, which caught me a little off-guard, but I was pleased because it broke the suspense. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, the notification that I had been accepted by York was released before I knew what my actual results were, which really took the pressure off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the evening I went out for a special family meal. My sister got her results at the same time as me so it was great that we could celebrate together. \n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are your top tips for results day?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. Don\u2019t compare your results with anyone else\u2019s<\/strong>. Comparison is the thief of joy, and just remember that everyone might not be telling the truth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. My friend had wanted to apply to York but he thought that his predicted A Level results were too low to apply. Then on results day, he found out that he had done fantastically and so he phoned up York who offered him a place then and there! The rest is history. Remember, if you exceed expectations you can also take advantage of clearing and adjustment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why did you choose York?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I chose York because it had a really good academic reputation and my Uncle went to York and loved it. It was important to me that York offered English with History. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city of York was also a huge pull – it\u2019s beautifully historic, but at the same time it has all the modern conveniences that you could want and great nightlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The glimpse I got of the York community was also very attractive to me. I was excited about being part of a college and on open days both staff and students seemed really friendly and down to earth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s the one piece of advice you\u2019d give yourself if you had to go through results day again?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Try and get a good night\u2019s sleep beforehand. You will be more emotionally stable and prepared to cope with whatever happens on the day. It also means that you can party late into the next night if things go well on results day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
