Like many universities, York has two campuses – Campus East and Campus West. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For most people Campus West is their base. It’s bigger and it’s where most campus events happen. I thought I would be on Campus West too, until I found out that Campus East is now my base. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the beginning I thought I would struggle. Campus West has the library where used did the majority of my work. But after studying on Campus East for a while I figured out I actually prefer to work outside the library. Sometimes being around other people working helps me feel motivated. But other times I find I can’t focus in the library at all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Campus East: Spaces to study <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Campus East you can usually find me either in the Computer Science Building<\/a> or the Ron Cooke Hub<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently I’ve been spending a lot of time in the Masters Lab, one of the dedicated postgraduate study spaces. It’s easy to get motivated there with my classmates around. There’s plenty of desks and computers as well as vending machines (that accept card) just down the hall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another place I enjoy working is the Ron Cooke Hub. There’s a mixture of desk spaces depending on what you’re working on so you can choose to be social if you want to. Or if you need to get your head down there are also silent study areas nearby, some with plug sockets, blinds and comfy chairs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you’re done studying there’s also places to be social on Campus East too. The Glasshouse<\/a>, Piazza Restaurant<\/a> and Hub Cafe<\/a> all serve food and drink. And there’s even a Greggs too! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s more, both campuses at the University of York are great places to go for a wander and clear your head. There’s a real feeling of tranquility with plenty of nature to help you chill out. It also feels spacious and there are rarely crowds of people together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So with frequent buses, places to study and shops and cafes too, you are definitely not losing out. In fact I think I actually prefer Campus East to West now… I hope you enjoy it too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
