For most students, results day is always so scary. I remember dreading the 16th of August 2018. My main worry was that I didn’t know what university I would end up at, as I was not sure what grades I would have achieved. I had hoped I would end up at my firm choice, but after seeing I had missed my offer by one grade, I began to panic. Here is my story of how I came to York through Clearing<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Results day<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Luckily, before results day I had made a contingency plan. This was to help with coping with whatever the outcome would be on the day. I had a list of all the universities I would call if I had done better than expected, as well as a list of the universities I would call If I had not done as well. When I found out that I had missed my first choice, I began to look at a list of all my clearing options. I began calling other universities and seeing who would accept me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I remember randomly coming across York. Even though it was not on my contingency plan, I saw that they did my course and they would accept my A Level grades. So, I quickly called and got through to the admission team. After explaining my grades, I was able to receive a verbal offer and received an email confirming it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The admissions team were so friendly on the phone. They reassured me and I was invited to come and visit the campus the week after. At that point, all I needed to do was add York as a clearing choice to my UCAS Track. It was such a huge weight off my shoulders. It was honestly such an easy process, and the staff I spoke to were so friendly and supportive. Clearing was far less complicated than I had anticipated!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happened next<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I received emails on how to apply for accommodation and guidance on student finance. I also had the opportunity to find out more about the Department of Sociology. Then, I applied for my accommodation and waited to hear back about my college allocation. It was such an easy process for me and I am so glad I picked York. It has been a home away from home and I have made lifelong friends here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, don\u2019t feel disheartened if you have to go through clearing. Try and prepare yourself and make a plan before the results day to help with relieving any stress!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
