A Week in the Life of a 1st-Year Film Student
Hi! I’m Ollie and I’m a first year Film and TV Production student here at York. I thought it would be useful to talk about my personal experience starting this course so that you can gain an insight into it. The TFTI department has been so welcoming over the past term, from the TFTI building tour to the welcome drinks reception. As someone with anxiety, I was nervous about joining such an interactive, hands-on department but I’m so glad I did and I’d love to share that experience with you all! In my blog, I mention one of my first assessments and the process of developing my script for it. I touch on how the work we do in lectures and seminars has supported my individual studies. University is very different from high school but it’s such a fun and engaging new experience – I hope you’re excited! 🙂
My experience of the Pre-1900 Production Project
My name is Stevie and I am a Third year Theatre student at the University of York. It is an absolute joy to write about this University and my course, in addition to what I believe makes it so unique in comparison to other institutions. In my blog I am going to be discussing a recent module I completed in the first term of Third year and the experiences I personally had with it. ‘Pre-1900s’ is a core module of your Third year within the Theatre degree, and is an incredibly exciting challenge to undertake working with your peers to create some truly impressive theatre. A key part of University, for me, is falling in love with your degree and reminding yourself why you chose to pursue the subject you did. With the Pre-1900s module it was absolutely a perfect reminder of why I particularly love Theatre and immersing myself in it on a daily basis.

Fears about getting a job are no different or arguably even more so when it comes to the creative industries. Particularly among those from lower socioeconomic and minority backgrounds, … Continue reading Business of the Creative Industries – Industry links
