Updates and case studies from our team in Communications

Content Design team round up: April and May 2026

Here we are in May. Spring is finally here, and we’ve been spring cleaning and ensuring our content is up to date and fresh across a range of projects.

HR web migration complete

The new HR web pages were migrated successfully and went live on 15 April. Since then, the pages have already generated over 48k page views.

During the transition, we reduced the page count from 1,200 to 700 by removing outdated content. We’re now working on a content governance and QA plan to help HR maintain these pages.

Related to this, we continue to run a HR and Finance web coordination group. This group meets monthly to discuss web work related to Workday and the HR and Finance transformation project.

Careers web page for prospective students

It’s been nine months since the new careers page went live, and we’ve reviewed the stats again. Some great headlines:

  • 160% increase in traffic.
  • Non-UK sessions have more than tripled.
  • We’ve improved organic search.

We’ve suggested some content refinements to help improve engagement with the deep dive content and videos.

Department and centre web rebuilds

With five rebuilds underway, there are many moving parts, but progress is steady. We continue to work closely with the Faculty Spokes team and Research Communications, following our rebuild standard process for these projects.

We’ve been working on final proofing and we’re getting ready for final sign-off and go-live planning for most of these. We hope to get most of them live by July.

We also worked with our Creative team on some lovely new graphics for departmental equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) pages.

Student support web pages discovery work

We’ve been working with our Internal Comms colleagues on creating a card sort survey to share with our students.

We’re keen to know how our students think about ‘student support’ and understand their terminology. Their involvement will help us figure out how best to structure a lot of complex and wide-ranging support content.

Staff research pages

We’re working with RIKE to plan the rebuild and structure of pages supporting staff research activities. Together, we developed a content plan and a proposal for a revised information architecture.

IT core pages annual updates?

We’ve been working with IT Services on annual updates for over 50 core pages, including the main landing page, cyber security and the about section. This project is nearly complete, with only a few remaining updates to ensure all facts are correct.

We also reviewed web usage stats for the Enterprise Architecture pages, which are for staff who’re planning a new system, service or major IT change.
