Here’s our end-of-summer updates, including student support and wellbeing pages, HR web usage stats, interdisciplinary centre web rebuilds and more.
Student support and wellbeing web pages
This project has been our main focus over the past couple of months, working with a small group of stakeholders and gathering feedback from students. It’s been a really interesting project to work on.
One of the biggest challenges has been working out the best way to structure such a wide-ranging support offer and communicate it in a user-centric way. We’ve done lots of discovery work to help us figure out and validate what we hope will improve the student experience. And ultimately, help students find the support they need faster.
We’re now in the final sign-off stage, aiming to go live with the first phase of improvements at the end of October. Here’s a sneak peek at the new support landing page.

We’ll write a blog in more detail about what we did, why we did it and what’s next.
Other projects and tasks
- HR web analytics report: We’ve been crunching the numbers and evaluating HR web branch usage following the site migration from a legacy system into the Web CMS. It’s looking like it was a great success!
- Views of the main HR landing page reached 9,640 pageviews, up 33% from 2025. The page has much more visibility now that it’s part of the staff section of the main University website.
- The main PDR page has seen a massive 558% increase in traffic, with 3,738 views compared with 568 in 2025. The pages were updated to reflect the revised process, consolidating and merging information rather than scattering details across deep sub-pages.
- The employee benefits page is #6 overall, with 5,083 views, after being integrated into the new ‘Your employment’ section and merged into a single signposting page.
- Workday: We created a web writing and microcopy checklist for staff to use when writing in-system copy.
- Jobs at York landing page: We’ve done more content planning and preparation with stakeholders, and we’ll shortly be moving into content creation.
- Careers web page refinements: Some minor tweaks went live at the end of July to hopefully improve interactions, specifically for the accordions and videos.
- Centre rebuilds completed: The rebuilds for Medieval Studies and Eighteenth Century Studies went live at the end of July.
- Centre rebuilds coming up: The Institute for the Public Understanding of the Past (IPUP) and Norwegian Study Centre are next, and we’ve started some early planning work.
- Classic to Digital Pattern Library rebuilds: We’ve started to revisit the content we have left in our legacy ‘Classic’ templates and are working out a plan for how we tackle what’s left to rebuild, including what can stay in Classic.
- IT service references: We’ve published a new guide for Transcribing audio and video recordings, and we’re working on new service reference pages for PURE and Worktribe.
- Staff research pages: We’re continuing to support and advise RIKE on improving the /staff/research pages. A new information architecture (aka web pages hierarchy) has been signed off. We’re helping them with the practicalities of what to do next.
- Computer Science short courses in systems safety engineering: Ten pages have gone through their final review and been signed off. We’ll be publishing them in mid-October.
