So what is a Post Offer Visit Day?
A Post Offer Visit Day is when you’ve received an offer from a university that you’ve applied to and they invite you to their University for the day. You’ll get to walk around what could be your new home for the next few years and you can also meet new people from your course. You’ll be able to experience first-hand what the next year could entail for you.
I attended the University of York Post Offer Visit Day last year in January. I knew from the moment I arrived that York was going to be my new home. But don’t worry if you’re still unsure about which uni you are going to choose, that’s what this day is for!
What can you expect?
Upon arrival, you’ll check yourself in and wait to receive some free merchandise (which is always a plus!). Then you’ll get a timetable for the day which will show you what’s on, where and what time. There will be talks about the University as a whole and then more tailored talks about your chosen course. You’ll be able to walk around campus and have a look at the accommodation too.
Going to a Post Offer Visit Day is really exciting as you get an insight into student life. You can also get a taste of what your course is like. It was important for me that all my questions were answered, which is what was great about this day. This helped me to settle my nerves. The questions which were on my mind were:
• What are the facilities like? (Gym etc)
• How safe is the University and the city?
• What is the accommodation like?
• How will I get around campus? Will I know where to go?
I’m sure all of you have similar, or even the same, questions in your head so if you receive the opportunity to go on a post offer visit day here at York, you should definitely take it! I was very pleased with the answers I got for my questions and I’m sure you will be too.
I have this experience to thank because it not only allowed my mind to be put at ease, but it also made me very excited for this new chapter in my life to start. September couldn’t come quick enough!
