York had two winners at Falling Walls Lab London. Crowned overall winner was Giampaolo Pitruzzello (Physics) with his talk ‘Breaking the wall of antimicrobial resistance’. Joint third winner was Ian Foxley (Politics and Centre for Applied Human Rights) for his talk ‘Breaking the wall of silence around whistleblowing’.
Giampaolo beat 26 international participants in the London Lab from institutions such as Harvard and the Alan Turing Institute. He will now compete with 99 other researchers for the title of ‘Young innovator of the Year’ at the Falling Walls Conference held in Berlin on Friday 8 November on the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
