The Writing Centre is seeking to recruit three Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) writing tutors.
Tutors provide 30-minute appointments (face-to-face and online) to students from all disciplines who come to the Centre to discuss their writing. Advice relates to such areas as focus, structure, argument, citation and referencing, writing style, language and grammar. In addition, with more experience, GTA writing tutors may have the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of online writing skills resources and workshops.
Writing Centre GTA tutors are offered a fixed term contract (from start date to the end of July) with the expectation of an average of 15-20 hours per month plus training and on-going mentor support from Writing Centre staff. The Writing Centre operates year round so will include providing appointments during vacation periods.
If you are interested in applying to be a Writing Centre tutor, you should be a successful, accurate academic writer yourself, preferably with experience of providing feedback on academic writing to peers or less experienced students. If you are an international student, you will also need to have a minimum IELTS 7.0 or equivalent language certificate.
