The Vulnerability & Policing Futures Research Centre is pleased to announce its inaugural PhD Summer School, scheduled to be held online on 4 -5 July 2024. This interdisciplinary event aims to foster a vibrant network of PhD researchers whose work intersects with various facets of vulnerability and policing.
About the Summer School
The primary objective of this summer school is to provide a platform for PhD students to present their research in a supportive environment and receive constructive feedback from fellow students and established researchers. The summer school also offers a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange and networking within the academic community.
The summer school will follow the following format:
- 5 x 25 minute presentation slots
- Each slot includes a 10-minute presentation followed by 15 minutes allocated for feedback and questions
- Presenters are encouraged to showcase material from their PhD theses at any stage of development
- Topics may include, but are not limited to: research design, methodology, thesis chapters, and potential paper ideas
Submission Guidelines
PhD students from a variety of disciplines are invited to submit abstracts for consideration. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words and must include the following information:
- Title of Presentation
- Author Name and Affiliation
- Brief overview of research topic and how it relates to the themes of vulnerability and/or policing
- Stage of PhD journey (eg, early-stage, mid-stage, near completion)
- Preferred presentation format (eg, designing research, methodology, dissertation chapters, potential paper ideas, etc)

Notification of Acceptance: Authors will be notified of acceptance by Wednesday 19 June.
Registration: Registration will be open to all after confirmation of the presenters.
