Halifax is the gem of Campus West. It’s great being the largest college with the most students on campus and there is a great community feeling around Halifax as a result.
The accommodation is really nice. It’s terraced houses set in courtyards with BBQs and outdoor benches. There is an exciting buzz and yet a relaxing village feeling and the beautiful greenery around the college really makes for summers full of picnics and relaxing in the sun. We have our own allotment and are right next to the sports fields which is handy. We have a really cool new common room with a huge screen and nice furniture, a large event and games space, a shop, launderette and a new IT suite. In fact, Halifax has basically everything you need in the college itself yet is only a short walk to the main campus so you get the best of both worlds!
The college tutors put events on most nights and the student association and college arrange pizza nights, study talks, and parties keeping us all feeling welcome and loved. Halifax have a good sporting and social reputation too which makes us very proud of the college. We also have an annual festival, a Christmas ball which is a great way for the college to come together and have fun. Freshers was just the best with live acts and something for everyone all week last year! You will never run out of things to do living in Halifax college!
The college staff are always friendly and approachable, and are always offering the opportunity for us to come up with our own ideas for change. I feel listened to here and also supported when things have gone wrong or not to plan. It feels like a home from home to me. The student association for Halifax also have officers that are so willing to help whenever you need it, and it’s Β great that we have officers ranging from events officers to wellbeing officers that provide support to all of us. Living at Halifax is the best choice I made when coming to university without any doubt.
