Hi! My name is Isabelle and I’m in my second year studying Biology at York. Here is my results day story:
What are your top tips for preparing for results day?
Make plans for the two or three days in the lead up to results day. Being distracted will help a lot as there is nothing worrying can do. If you’re tired from days out then you’ll be more likely to sleep the night before!
What are your top tips?
Results day can be confusing. Every school shares results differently, but for me, I was waiting for an email at 6am with my grades, and then (hopefully) universities would email me to let me know I got in! At 6am I opened my emails to find I’d fallen under my predicted grades, so I went back to bed to sleep off my disappointment for a few hours.
At around 9am I decided to give York (my first choice) a call just to see if there was any way I could still be going there in September. They were still keen for me to take my place to study Biology! The helpful guy I spoke to on the phone turned out to be my supervisor when I arrived in York! So, don’t give up hope just based on your results – I could have missed my chance.
Why did you choose York?
I didn’t want to go anywhere else. After the open day, I told my mum I wouldn’t go to my insurance choice if I didn’t get into York. Well, I did, and it’s even better than I expected. Both the campus and the city are beautiful.
