Covid-19 PhD Scholarship Fund (CPSF)

York Graduate Research School (YGRS) is delighted to announce that – in addition to UKRI’s recent funding package – the University Executive Board has agreed to fund our new Covid-19 PhD Scholarship Fund (CPSF). This is a package of support for PhD researchers receiving their stipend via York, and for UK self-funded PhD researchers, who have been most impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Due to Covid-19, we know that for some researchers, even with adjustments and mitigation, it is not possible to complete your doctorate within your funding period or, for self-funded PhD researchers, during the period you originally planned for. Therefore, the YGRS is establishing the CPSF for PhD researchers who started their research prior to the pandemic, within the following categories:

  • UKRI-funded PhD researchers (including match-funded PhD researchers)
  • York-funded PhD researchers
  • UK self-funded PhD researchers

Postgraduate researchers can request up to three months of scholarship funding, though further funding extensions may be requested if there are exceptional circumstances. Find out more on the website. Priority will be given to those with the greatest need.

There will be multiple opportunities to apply throughout 2021. This will allow you to assess as you approach your funding end date whether you actually need the extension or, indeed, highlight if your needs have changed and/or become more pronounced over time.

Applications for Round 1 will open on Monday 11 January 2021 and close on Friday 25 January 2021.
