Postgraduate Researcher Mentoring and Buddying Schemes

In the spirit of National Volunteer Week, we are immensely proud to be launching two new initiatives for postgraduate researchers here at the University of York.

For our incoming postgraduate research students who are starting at the university in 2020/2021, we have launched our PGR Buddy Scheme. We are looking for current PGR students from across the university who are happy to volunteer to be a ‘buddy’ to one of our incoming PGR students – to welcome them to the city, our university, and to the research community here at York.

And for current PGR students (in the final 18 months before your submission deadline), we have launched our PGR Mentoring Scheme. If you feel you would benefit from an enhanced research experience, through additional support, then this scheme is for you. Your mentor (a postdoctoral researcher) will provide support, guidance, and a space to discuss your overall progression as a researcher – to complement your supervisory guidance.

More information and details on how to apply for both schemes can be found here: https://www.york.ac.uk/research/graduate-school/support/mentor-buddy/
