Come to the Careers Fairs

If you’re considering job opportunities in sectors outside academia you might be interested in attending our Semester 1 recruitment fairs from next week. They give you the chance to explore graduate schemes with large employers in a range of work areas and sectors and the chance to meet employers.

Most employers will not explicitly be looking for candidates with a PhD but you should be able to apply if you meet their criteria and don’t already have a lot of work experience in the same type of work. Graduate schemes can offer a structured programme of training and development and the opportunity to work towards relevant professional qualifications. Check the fairs pages to find out who’s coming.

Law Fair Wed 4 Oct 12.30 to 4.30pm – Law and Sociology, Campus East
Law firms and law schools offering training courses and sponsorship for non-Law students. Did you know that around 50% of new recruits in many law firms come from a non-Law background?

Grad Jobs and Placements Fair Thurs 13 and Fri 14 Oct 11am – 3pm – Exhibition Centre, Campus West
A wide range of companies and roles. There will be employers from sectors including finance and actuarial, engineering, consulting, property services, IT/Technology, healthcare comms and economics, biotech and the public sector. Check exhibitor lists as most companies will attend on just one of the two days.

You can attend at any time, no booking required. Also at the fairs you can meet Careers staff, get your CV reviewed, have a photo taken for your LinkedIn profile and find free interview clothes from our ‘Work Wardrobe’.
