Cover to cover

The undergraduate prospectus 2021 is hot off the press. The striking new cover has a strong photographic element with text and graphics. It’s been an exciting project which kicked off in September last year.

Out now: the 2021 undergraduate prospectus

The latest undergraduate prospectus is out now. We restructured the department section to streamline the content and updated the front section with new student and alumni profiles.

Gathering student and alumni profiles for the UG prospectus

The front section of the prospectus needs to show off the things that make York brilliant. What better way to tell that tale and share the load of content creation than by asking our students and alumni to write stuff?

Creating the festive feature page

Our shiny new postgraduate funding guide

Our updated funding guide aims to help prospective postgraduate students break down financial barriers, and plan their route to York.

What we ended up with was an accommodation video that didn’t really feature much accommodation in at all.

Testing the usability of the undergraduate prospectus

Work to produce the 2021 undergraduate prospectus is well underway. This year, the prospectus team are considering some significant changes to the courses section, and wanted to test their initial thinking. As a user experience designer, that’s where I came in.

Coming soon: a new version of the web CMS

It’s been a few years since we’ve had an upgrade to our web content management system (CMS), but we’re pleased to announce that we’re going to be moving to a new version soon.

Making PhDs accessible: increasing traffic and conversion

Here are some of the techniques I used to double page views and increase PhD applications.

Chunking up content for our international guides

Earlier this year we had the opportunity to consolidate two printed publications aimed at prospective international students. This was a really satisfying piece of work as we’ve made significant improvements in terms of content and design.
